From the editor—
As they say, time flies when you’re having fun… And such is certainly the case here, as we celebrate this, our 100th issue and the kick off to our 10th volume year. In some ways, it seems like it was just yesterday that we launched the first issue of CitiScapes. Of course, in reality, that was way back in June 2001. But when you’re working on various parts of multiple issues simultaneously, at all times and on a strict deadline schedule, one month tends to almost blur into the next…at least for the staff. That said, when one pauses to truly think about the past 99 issues—the millions upon millions of words; the hundreds of thousands of man-hours worked; the thousands of people, places and things covered; and the hundreds of talented individuals who have contributed to ensuring each issue hits the stands each and every month without fail and chock-full of amazing content documenting virtually every facet of life in Northwest Arkansas—well, it doesn’t quite feel like “yesterday” anymore. There’s a lot in that rearview mirror, and as I reflect upon all that has transpired since first launching CitiScapes, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride – and of sincere and humble gratitude. In June 2001, there was no other monthly city/regional lifestyle magazine based in Northwest Arkansas. And just as the region overall has evolved (some might say exponentially so) since that time, so too has CitiScapes – which is now the area’s longest running and most widely circulated publication of its kind dedicated to all things NWA. And so, it is in light of this 100th Issue milestone, and with great pleasure and enthusiasm, that we present this look back at the past 99 issues – showcasing all of our past covers and a sampling of the many faces and places featured, and recognizing the many contributors who have made it all possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you. –Aaron Bleidt
